This section of Miramar is a surprise to me,
and probably unknown to most people.
It's a small quadrant cut off the main base area
by the intersection of Hwy 52 and Hwy 15.
We first tried to find it from the location of the arrow on the map above.
Here's what we saw. Not close and no pools nearby, we headed to E on Hwy 52.
I stopped on the very wide and safe road shoulder,
and took a quick look - yep, there's a small pool there.
I tried 2-3 more times and found nothing,
but I think a walk would reveal more vernal pools;
it looks like the right terrain.
However, we were interrupted by a tow truck hoping we were in trouble.
I accepted his business card and a booklet on what to do when the car breaks down.
We got rolling and left without further exploration.
This area seems to be partially Miramar and partially San Diego open space.
The barbed wire and signs indicate which is which.
I think we'll go back here for a walk someday.
